The reunions between missing dogs and their fur parents are always heartwarming regardless of the circumstances. This only happens, though, when the missing dog from Florida is found a few cities over. In most cases, when the dog is found across the country, the chances of reunions are slim, if not impossible.
However, the experience of Becca Williams, a resident of St. Augustine, Florida, would inspire her fellow dog lovers. In early April 2021, Becca lost her dog, a German Shepherd named Cass. This was devastating on the part of Becca because Cass meant the world to her.
Like any other dog owner, Becca has speculations that something is wrong. This is because it would be unlikely for Cass to run off and never return home. According to Becca, the dog went missing after she forgot to close the house’s main door. But even if the dog left, Cass would always return after she strolls outside.
After a few hours, Becca felt something was wrong when Cass was not responding to her calls. This was the time the dog owner roamed around the vicinity to search her beloved dog. However, even if she shouts, Cass did not respond.
Beginning the search
Becca put up posters of the missing dog the next day. She likewise put up a Facebook page she named Finding Cass in the hopes that the internet would help her. But it was not only Becca who experienced the dilemma of losing a black German Shepherd. Owners of the same breed reported that their dogs were also missing.
Becca received news that there were numerous sightings of black German Shepherds. When she checked, Becca was not one of the dogs sighted in different places.
On day 26 of the dog’s missing, Becca received a phone call from a person residing in Indiana. It turned out that one of their family members picked Cass believing the dog was stray. This development made Becca happy because there was a glimmer of hope.
After receiving this news, Becca drove 16 hours or 900 miles to Indiana to reunite with her beloved dog. For Becca, the drive was worth it because she saw Cass once again. It was a sweet reunion, but the reunion also gave the dog owner a lesson to learn from.
