Dogs Receive Knitted Jumper From An Olympic Gold Medalist:
Tom Daley is a British competitive diver who won a gold medal for his home country, Great Britain, at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. However, he did not just become famous for winning the highest prize in the competition. He also enjoys quaint hobby: knitting. This is what captured his fans’ hearts the most.
Witnessing an Olympic competitor relaxing on the sidelines is not something unusual. Although, what really took the internet by surprise was witnessing Tom knitting.
The photo of him knitting an item of purple clothing appeared on the Olympics’ official Twitter account. It garnered over 182,500 heart reactions and 1,200 replies from various Twitter users worldwide. Various news channels interviewed Tom about why he was knitting instead of watching his competitors and responded that it relaxes him.
When asked for whom he knits, his answer struck every fan’s heart. He revealed that the clothing is for his friend’s dog. He shared that he made doggy jumpers for his friend’s dog because he wanted to keep him warm this coming winter season.
Tom uploaded a photo of his friend’s pet dog, a Jack Russell named Juno. Juno who wore his creation, and it received over 270,000 likes and 3,100 comments from Instagram users worldwide. Tom also made some more doggy sweaters for his friends’ pet Dachshund, Vinnie, and a Cockapoodle named Nelly, and they all looked warm and cozy while wearing the famous Olympian’s knitted jumpers.
Tom’s efforts of knitting gifts for his friends’ dogs paid off because the adorable pups were even featured in the United Kingdom local newspaper. The Olympic gold medalist proudly shared that surprising his loved ones with his creations makes him happy because he gets to see the smiles on their faces.
