Sandi is a pit bull-boxer mix that has spent half of her life living at the Marion-Grant County Humane Society in Indiana. For six years, she waited for someone to adopt her and give her the happiness and care that only a family can provide. And it seemed like it was never coming. Check out the story on how this shelter dog finally gets adopted.
No one in the shelter knew the 12-year-old dog’s origins. This is because not one of them was there when she was brought in. Sandi has been in the shelter longer than any of the people that currently work there.
They still remain optimistic though that Sandi will one day have a family to call her own. Until then, they would be more than happy to take care of the aging dog.
Now finally, that day has arrived.
Erin and Cary Rhodes are big supporters of the shelter. They have known about Sandi’s plight for a long time. But they couldn’t take care of more than one dog. But now that their pet has passed away, they have the room in their home and their hearts to adopt the long-time shelter resident.
According to one of the shelter employees, Erin called her up and said that she has been thinking about Sandi a lot. It seems that she can’t get the dog out of her mind. Then after discussing it with her partner, they agreed that they would adopt Sandi.
Dog finally gets adopted
When the shelter staff heard the news, they were ecstatic. Sandi has finally found her forever home, and it couldn’t be to a nicer couple. They knew that Erin and Cary would take good care of the senior dog.
On the day that Sandi was going to her new home, they had to do a proper send-0ff. The shelter staff went out of the facility and celebrated the dog as she walked out. She even had a red carpet laid out for her.
Sandi was wearing a paper crown as she met her new family. And there is no doubt, she is a princess in her own right.
