Retractable leashes are dangerous and cause more problems. It gives some freedom for the dogs as the leashes are handheld machines. But the retractable leash cause pain and destruction to your pets.
Bulky leash handle
The handle easily can pull from the human hand and frightens the pet, while hurling towards them. It causes injury as it hits the pet and its loud sound alarms your pet to run away with fear.
The leash wear and tear causes the cord to get stuck and it does not retract. Thus, it causes jerking a lot and it rubs around your pet’s neck harshly.
Length presents danger
The retractable leash extends up to 26 feet. It allows the dogs to go far and to contact other person or dog, and also wander into the traffic or street. This freedom poses danger of getting hit by a vehicle, etc.
Thin cord breaks
The retractable leash has a thin cord. It is easy to snap or break if your pet is powerful and starts running with speed. It can put your pet in danger of getting hurt or can injure the walking human as the cord snaps back. So, even constant retracting causes rubbing on the handle. It leads to frays that tear with even the slightest force.
Poor walking skills
If humans tangle themselves while grabbing the leash, the cord gets cut, there is possibility of serious injuries to occur. While, the retractable leashes do not teach the pet to walk properly. They get into pulling and running while on, the leash, as they get some more feet extension. The retractable leashes by nature teach the dogs to keep pulling sides on leash. Therefore, it is a must to teach them to walk politely on a leash and to stay close to humans for the pet’s safety.
Jerking stop cause injuries
The retractable leash running out of the cord, hits the handle stop button. This results in a sudden jerking causing neck wounds and spine injuries.
The cord can tangle around the human’s feet that it piles up. Suddenly if you want to stop your pet, it may result in a tripping hazard.
It is best to buy a new leash offering good grip and does not come as a decapitating machine. Make a better choice for your Fido by giving up retractable leashes and choosing the conventional ones.
